Prof. Dr. Moritz Diehl heads the Systems Control and Optimization Laboratory of the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg. He is also affiliated to the Department of Mathematics. He is Training Manager of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Initial Training Network AWESCO. Before taking up his current assignment, he was professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, KU Leuven and served as the Principal Investigator of the Optimization in Engineering Center (OPTEC). He was the principal investigator of the EU FP7 ERC Project HIGHWIND. He contributed the first chapter on the Basic Concepts and Physical Foundations to the Springer textbook Airborne Wind Energy published in 2013.
